A Small Message.

This blog-post is something very spur of the moment actually. It's just a small message. It's been two months since I started this blog. I am very happy with it. My own little place to write every now and then about beauty,my baby brother or just a random blog-post. it's very satisfying to have something like this it's like your online journal.

The main point of this blog-post is not about telling how I am  happy with my blog but it is sort of a request. I want to learn more about make-up. Techniques, different brushes and all there is that I can pick up. I know the basics, the foundation, shades of lipstick , concealer and what not. I want to take it to a whole new level.

I have seen many beauty bloggers who are far better than me because I still haven't really blossomed into the whole beauty writing and picture posting part of my blog. Mainly, I am scared to give you the wrong way of doing it. I know my basics and I am sure you probably learnt them too. It would be very nice if some beauty gurus could give me some help with my beauty learning. That's all

With loads of love

How it all began-- A Periwinkle Story.

Hello Everyone!
How are you all doing?

I hope everyone is doing well. So it's finally here. Blogpost Saturdays. Like I had tweeted a week back from today, that I will blog only on Saturdays, this way it can be easier for me to manage my life with the blogposts.

I always review my blog-posts to make sure they don't go flopping down due to my anxiety issues. Today I thought instead of reviewing a product or writing about how I am burdened with work, I would have a little reader-friendly blog-post instead.

Since I write under a username, I know I am not very open about who I am or where I am from.

So let's get to know each other?
xx

My name is Zarnish, and my blog is called Periwinkle. Periwinkle happens to be my favorite shade of purple as well as I love the flower. Now Periwinkle didn't just come out of no-where. It was quite an unsure idea though. I have been trying to start a blog forever. It was always a thing inside me to have my own corner, without someone to impress or for a grade. Periwinkle is my little world, where I just post about all the random things. Mainly beauty, fashion and a bit of lifestyle.

I am originally from Lahore, Pakistan but I have been raised in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. I am seventeen doing my O'levels this year. I am studying business. I am more of your tomboy kind of person. The only reason I ever got into the whole beauty thing was because I absolutely loved reading about it.

I have always collected clips from the newspapers and magazines and honestly I have  a whole bunch of magazines in my cupboard which have everything about beauty and make-up.

I think of make-up as a way of art. It's one way of being your own artist. You get in touch with people because many of them share the same interests.

So that's pretty much it. For this blog-post I mean. I have a few coming today. xx
Not on the same time though

Hope you have a great day
xx

*Note to self. Stop using "xx" everywhere :3

Fitness February--

Second wall post for the day. Am I on the roll or what? So when 2014 began I had written a blog post about how I want to lose weight. For a while I was really focused. Then there was so much stress that food became my best friend again. Now that January has ended I have mustered up all the strength to give it a go once more. I like to call it Fitness February. I came up with it on the bus ride from school. Tomorrow is the first of February. I am pretty focused on the while weight loss thing. I want to make it more of an achievement. From tomorrow it's no to all the junk and hello to clean eating. I need all the luck. You can be my fitness buddy..if yes leave me a comment below? :) xx

I don't want to end this post with so little written. I have actually agreed to do our O'level dance on our sports day on 21st Feb. I mean dancing? me? how about no ._., but since it is my last year in school, so let's make some memories! :D

What are you upto?

DIY Skin Care

OLA AMIGOS! xx

Waazaaaa?

How are you all doin'? I am doing absolutely rubbish because I am not well and I just want to sleeep.
Sadly I have an assessment tomorrow so after I am done posting this I am going to be studying. BOOOOO.

Something which every girl is fussing about nowadays( that includes me) is our skin. With all the pollution or the weather situation-where-ever you live- our skin keeps getting damaged most of the time. I know mine does. Like it's so frustrating, during the vacations my skin is all flawless and it has minimal pimples. The moment school starts I can't take care of my skin because there is so much work and then the little pimples start poppin' and leave marks.

Now this post is  not about the products I use to take care of my skin because I am going to get brand new products and then do a blog post on them. After I use them so I can actually tell you what I think about the product.

In this post I am going to give some tips and tricks to take care of your skin.
I had done a post on the different kind of skin types
( Link below)

Here are some DIY things you can do to keep your skin fresh and glowin' daily.

Pimples:
Now all of us have these little suckers every now and then. The first thing to do when you get a pimple is don't keep touching it again and again. Do not even pop it otherwise it will leave a mark x_x I mean that's scary. When ever I get a pimple I ice it before going to bed and in the morning all the redness reduces.  Some DIY tricks you could use to get rid of pimples are

a) Honey- Honey is very helpful when it comes to getting rid of pimples.   Apply honey and leave it for 10 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.

b) Tea Tree Oil- Now I have never used this but I have read it helps. I wouldn't recommend it if you have severely oily skin.

c) Tomato- Yes you read it right. Use tomato. I mean who knew something used to make sauces could help clear your face? But it does. I have tried it. I read a lot of the beauty articles and dermatologists suggest using tomato on your pimples. You can even make a paste out of it

Lemon juice- Take a bit of cotton and dab our face lightly with some lemon juice and rinse it after 5 minutes. Something I would recommend is that first use it on your hand and see if your skin burns. If it does do not use this remedy.

Some other tips are to wash your face with luke warm water atleast twice a day.
Always pat your face dry, instead of rubbing the towel all over your face. This will prevent the bacteria from spreading all over your face.

Blackheads And Whiteheads:
Since I have a combination skin, blackheads and whiteheads are super duper annoying. Whenever I have time  get a facial done and the lady removes it with the black head extractor. See I know a lot of us have the extractors and they are easily available in the market, but I wouldn't advice you to use it own your own. Mainly because there is a technique to use them and if you press to hard they can scar you.

One trick I use is to take an old toothbrush and dip it in some honey. Then I rub it on the black heads and whiteheads. Then after scrubbing for 5 minutes I wash my face with cold water. Before you do this don't forget to wash your face with warm water so that it can open the pores and the blackheads will come out more easily. When you wash your face with cold water the pores close.

You can even use a mixture of milk and nutmeg to get rid of them.

Acne:
Many people consider that acne and pimples are the same thing. To be honest they are different. A pimple is a blocked pore while acne occurs under the skin.

How to get rid of acne? Simple!
Honey and Cinnamon. Make a paste of honey and cinnamon and apply it on your face for about 15 minutes. Wash it off. Do this every day and see the results.

Since I am only 17 I can not give tips on aging and wrinkles because currently I haven't experienced any of those.

Sorry that I am not using my own photo-graphs. I will try next time xx

Back To Basic Saturdays-The Power Of The Brushes

OLA AMIGOS! Waaazaaaa?

Like everyday I am burdened with loads of work but I am taking a break and what better way to utilize my break by writing a wallpost. Life is complicated. I mean it is, but if we know a simple basic things it can be pretty simple. I know most people look at make up the same way. They probably are like what blush, what foundation..wait there is a concealer? Woaah *dazed

To be very honest, I used to think make up was very complicated too, until I started to read about it and then it seriously was waaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy simple. So for someone who can probably relate to that I thought about doing a back to basic Saturday post. The concept being that every Saturday I will post about basic things people should know about make-up.

This post is about brushes. There are loads of make up brushes. These are various types. But here are the basic make up brushes you need. The uses of the right kind of make up brush is that when you use a right kind of brush your beauty products last longer and you get a more refined touch to it.
Like some wise soul said details are important. ( Dunno whether they actually said that or not x_x)

I had purchased this little make up brush kit from Lifestyle last year in November. It was just so adorable. So the photos below is basically all the brushes which are commonly used. Let's begin!

Not My Photo.

PS- All the below photos are mine. Photo editing comes in handy a lot.

A sponge applicator is basically used for applying the eye shadows. You can use this to smudge your eye shadow and give it the smokey eye effect as well.

The Lip Brush. Most of us use lipsticks. We obviously see this brush being used so much in Make-Up Tutorials or by make up artists because they do not apply the lip color directly to many people. This actually is very helpful because you can evenly spread your lip color and even smooth it a bit.

This brush has two sides to it.
I never really knew why this brush was required but trust me, I wouldn’t be anywhere without it anymore: P
The flexible brush side is basically grooms your eyebrows and gives it a bushy effect. You can also use it to prep your brow color. Not really prep I mean you can blend it.

Who doesn’t get clumped up eye  lashes after applying mascara? I for one do get them. They are pretty annoying but don’t you worry lovely the other comb side to this brush is basically to remove the clumps of your eye lashes. You can even use it on your brows to give them a more polished look

Right now you are confused at this brush because it is the same as the brush number one. Do not be confused. There is a difference between the sponge applicator and the eye shadow brush. Technically the sponge applicator is applied on the outer side of your eye lids and is used for the more smudge look. This brush is used to apply on the inner part of your eye lids. ( I am pretty sure it is not called the inner part..I just can't recall what it is called..wait wait..it's called the eye lid fold. The outer side will be called the upper eye lid platform

*feels smart*

So the last brush doesn't really need an introduction or stuff. This is the brush every one is very familiar with. It's the powder brush you can apply the blushes and foundations with this. There are of course different sorts of powder brushes depending on how you want to highlight your face.

Hope you have a great day xx

To Ombre Or Not To Ombre That Is The Question!

OLA AMIGOS!

Sooooooooooooooooooooo. I just realized that in April I will have my farewell. Which has motivated me to stay more focused on my weight loss.

Every one prepares for their farewell before hand because doing it at the end is just a rush. I want to do something new with my hair which hasn't been cut since my 9th grade summer break. That is pretty terrifying. *freaks out* Mainly because I am Asian and when I was in 9th grade my hair was pretty short and that terrified my mum and now that it is longer my mum just doesn't want me to cut it #Asian-problems

Something that I really want to do is get an Ombre done.

Ombre is basically bleaching the tips of your hair to a brownish blonde color. Only your tips. There are some pros and cons to it..mostly cons because you are basically applying bleach which is so not good for your hair and I know if my hair which is pretty thick and I have minimal hair fall starts becoming bad then I will freak out. [I found some photos online to give a clearer picture]

On the other hand..if I get an Ombre done for the farewell, I will finally have done something different to my hair. ( I NEED A HAIRCUT!!!!!!!!!!) Not to mention I will of course use the products to maintain my hair because these products are always easily available)

I so need help with this..

Oh well school starts tomorrow so I should probably focus on that.

Love & Sprinkles

ACTIVE Cosmetics: Glamour Beauty Booster Kit |

Recently I bought loads of stuff from a store in Dubai called Lifestyle. For those of you who aren't familiar with Lifestyle, it is a store that sells home decor, home fragrance, fashion bags and accessories and bath and beauty products. It's a lovely store and you can buy these products at a very affordable price. For those of you who live in Dubai Lifestyle is also part of the CENTREPOINT circle.
Their beauty range includes Rimmel, Deborah Milano, NYX, Maybelline and Max Factor.

Go check out the website for Lifestyle here: www.lifestylegulf.com

One of the things I purchased was the ACTIVE Glamour Beauty Boosting Kit. I have actually never purchased any thing from this particular brand so I did a little bit of research and found out that ACTIVE cosmetics is basically a Manchester based Rainbow Cosmetics Beauty Whole Sale Brand

You can go check out more stuff about Rainbow Cosmetics here: http://www.rainbowcosmetics.co.uk/

Coming back to the kit. It consists of 20 eye shadows, 2 blush and two double wand applicators and eye liner

There are 4 solid colors in the kit, which are
  1. Black
  2. Brown
  3. Beige
  4. Purple

There are 4 rows with different shades from these solid colors in the kit. The kit even consists of the basic blush and a little mirror which I find adorable :3

Apart from the fact that this kit consists the basic make up essentials, the size of the kit makes it easier to be carried out from place to place in your handbag, which I find really handy because I do not like stuffing things in my handbag and making it look completely disorganized.

Here are some photossss *snap snap snap*

The tape on the packing isn't impressive though -_-''
Colors!

The whole kit! KABAAM!

Bath & Body Works: Secret WonderLand Body Butter and Cucumber Melon HandCream || Brushes Blushes N Specs ❤

I love Bath and Body Works. Like when you enter the shop you seriously do not want to leave it at all.

So recently I purchased two amazing products for a very reasonable price.

The first thing that I bought is the Secret Wonderland Body Butter. The Secret Wonderland is a whole Signature Collection at Bath and Body Works. It consists of shower gel, body butter, lotion. I am more of the Body Butter type person.

Body butter basically has a yoghurt like texture with great smell and you use it on your body. One piece of advice is that please do not use it on your face as it will block your pores and cause acne.

So firstly the body butter smells divine. It's got a sort of peach color I might say and it keeps your skin moisturized for nearly 24 hours. I apply my body butter after I have taken a bathe or had a shower and before I go to bed. I always focus on my elbows, knees and ankles while I use it.

The point of it is to make your skin soft and luscious.

The second thing I purchased is the Cucumber Melon hand cream. Hand cream is basically a lotion but a little bit thicker. My skin on the hands, so it will keep my hands moisturized. Of course like any other Bath and Body Works product this smells great aswell. So the next time I go to Bath and Body Works I will definitely get more of these products because I have fallen in love with them x
