Fitness February--

Second wall post for the day. Am I on the roll or what? So when 2014 began I had written a blog post about how I want to lose weight. For a while I was really focused. Then there was so much stress that food became my best friend again. Now that January has ended I have mustered up all the strength to give it a go once more. I like to call it Fitness February. I came up with it on the bus ride from school. Tomorrow is the first of February. I am pretty focused on the while weight loss thing. I want to make it more of an achievement. From tomorrow it's no to all the junk and hello to clean eating. I need all the luck. You can be my fitness buddy..if yes leave me a comment below? :) xx

I don't want to end this post with so little written. I have actually agreed to do our O'level dance on our sports day on 21st Feb. I mean dancing? me? how about no ._., but since it is my last year in school, so let's make some memories! :D

What are you upto?

Only Half A Blue Sky-Some January Favourites

OLA AMIGOS!
Waazaa?

January went by the blink of the eye and it finally occurred to me that this is 2014. As you all know January was a great month for me and my family. We had a beautiful little addition on January 14th and we all couldn't be happier. I can't even thank God enough for all the blessings. It's really important we identify what is important and what shouldn't be giving attention like someone saying something mean about you. That's pretty shizzle and you should never keep thinking about it.

I didn't get to go out that much this time or buy any products because my baby brother is just two weeks old and my mum needs all the rest she can get. There are a few things that I really loved this month. Actually they are just three but as they say less is more. When I am going out, just for a while I only apply a little mascara, some lip balm and lip color and go sorta without any foundation..depending on how I am feelin'. It's kinda scary I know.

Here are the products I would give a thumbs up for the month of January.

The first one is the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Mascara. Trust me like the website says this massive. The brush is 50 times the size of a regular mascara no kidding. The bright orange color attracts the eye. I know the reason I bought it was because it was very vibrant looking.  It's available in black and extreme black. I got it from Lifestyle. You should definitely give this a try.

Something I really like is that because the brush is bigger it gives your eyes a great effect and there was absolutely no clumping eye lashes. We all know that is a problem with most mascaras, the brush clumps the eye lashes. This one is different. I assure you that.

Go check out the other things you could find in Lifestyle

The second and third thing I fell in love with are two lip colors. One is from L'oreal Paris and the other one from Rimmel London :3 What can I say I am obsessed with these brands.
The color from Rimmel London is number 242 and it's called Fudge Brownie. Let's be honest those two words are always good together, whether for the yummy dessert or this amazin' lip color. I personally love the color when I have to go outside..it's not attention grabbing and it gives your lips more of the natural look. Especially if you have the same skin tone as mine.

The other color I bought was the L'Oreal Paris 102 Color Riche and it is called Praline Beige. How awkward is it that bought my lip colors are named after something yummy. Good job L'Oreal and Rimmel.

If you feel a little girly, you should go for this color. Days when I decide I want to feel a little cheerful and I want to be confident I definitely use this color.

So this is it for this post amigos!
Hope you have a great weekend

A little change and a re-introduction.

OLA AMIGOS!

Waazzzzaaa?

My mind has been pretty mumbo jumbo lately. I am a very indecisive person.  I have been trying to work as much as I can on the blog lately. For some reason the name doesn't click for me, therefore I decided to bring in the name change. See I'm not the whole tech savvy kind off person. Even though I managed to mess with the html and get a twitter widget. ( You should go follow that)  That is sort off an achievement to be very honest.

Let's have a re-introduction. Hello and welcome to my blog Periwinkle.I find it cool to be honest.
For those of you wondering what Periwinkle is, it is basically a shade of purple. I love the color.

Flowers--Yes this is what Periwinkle is

So I am going to go take a nap. I feel happy now. Seriously pretty tired aswell.

DIY Skin Care

OLA AMIGOS! xx

Waazaaaa?

How are you all doin'? I am doing absolutely rubbish because I am not well and I just want to sleeep.
Sadly I have an assessment tomorrow so after I am done posting this I am going to be studying. BOOOOO.

Something which every girl is fussing about nowadays( that includes me) is our skin. With all the pollution or the weather situation-where-ever you live- our skin keeps getting damaged most of the time. I know mine does. Like it's so frustrating, during the vacations my skin is all flawless and it has minimal pimples. The moment school starts I can't take care of my skin because there is so much work and then the little pimples start poppin' and leave marks.

Now this post is  not about the products I use to take care of my skin because I am going to get brand new products and then do a blog post on them. After I use them so I can actually tell you what I think about the product.

In this post I am going to give some tips and tricks to take care of your skin.
I had done a post on the different kind of skin types
( Link below)

Here are some DIY things you can do to keep your skin fresh and glowin' daily.

Pimples:
Now all of us have these little suckers every now and then. The first thing to do when you get a pimple is don't keep touching it again and again. Do not even pop it otherwise it will leave a mark x_x I mean that's scary. When ever I get a pimple I ice it before going to bed and in the morning all the redness reduces.  Some DIY tricks you could use to get rid of pimples are

a) Honey- Honey is very helpful when it comes to getting rid of pimples.   Apply honey and leave it for 10 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.

b) Tea Tree Oil- Now I have never used this but I have read it helps. I wouldn't recommend it if you have severely oily skin.

c) Tomato- Yes you read it right. Use tomato. I mean who knew something used to make sauces could help clear your face? But it does. I have tried it. I read a lot of the beauty articles and dermatologists suggest using tomato on your pimples. You can even make a paste out of it

Lemon juice- Take a bit of cotton and dab our face lightly with some lemon juice and rinse it after 5 minutes. Something I would recommend is that first use it on your hand and see if your skin burns. If it does do not use this remedy.

Some other tips are to wash your face with luke warm water atleast twice a day.
Always pat your face dry, instead of rubbing the towel all over your face. This will prevent the bacteria from spreading all over your face.

Blackheads And Whiteheads:
Since I have a combination skin, blackheads and whiteheads are super duper annoying. Whenever I have time  get a facial done and the lady removes it with the black head extractor. See I know a lot of us have the extractors and they are easily available in the market, but I wouldn't advice you to use it own your own. Mainly because there is a technique to use them and if you press to hard they can scar you.

One trick I use is to take an old toothbrush and dip it in some honey. Then I rub it on the black heads and whiteheads. Then after scrubbing for 5 minutes I wash my face with cold water. Before you do this don't forget to wash your face with warm water so that it can open the pores and the blackheads will come out more easily. When you wash your face with cold water the pores close.

You can even use a mixture of milk and nutmeg to get rid of them.

Acne:
Many people consider that acne and pimples are the same thing. To be honest they are different. A pimple is a blocked pore while acne occurs under the skin.

How to get rid of acne? Simple!
Honey and Cinnamon. Make a paste of honey and cinnamon and apply it on your face for about 15 minutes. Wash it off. Do this every day and see the results.

Since I am only 17 I can not give tips on aging and wrinkles because currently I haven't experienced any of those.

Sorry that I am not using my own photo-graphs. I will try next time xx

Back To Basic Saturdays-The Power Of The Brushes

OLA AMIGOS! Waaazaaaa?

Like everyday I am burdened with loads of work but I am taking a break and what better way to utilize my break by writing a wallpost. Life is complicated. I mean it is, but if we know a simple basic things it can be pretty simple. I know most people look at make up the same way. They probably are like what blush, what foundation..wait there is a concealer? Woaah *dazed

To be very honest, I used to think make up was very complicated too, until I started to read about it and then it seriously was waaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy simple. So for someone who can probably relate to that I thought about doing a back to basic Saturday post. The concept being that every Saturday I will post about basic things people should know about make-up.

This post is about brushes. There are loads of make up brushes. These are various types. But here are the basic make up brushes you need. The uses of the right kind of make up brush is that when you use a right kind of brush your beauty products last longer and you get a more refined touch to it.
Like some wise soul said details are important. ( Dunno whether they actually said that or not x_x)

I had purchased this little make up brush kit from Lifestyle last year in November. It was just so adorable. So the photos below is basically all the brushes which are commonly used. Let's begin!

Not My Photo.

PS- All the below photos are mine. Photo editing comes in handy a lot.

A sponge applicator is basically used for applying the eye shadows. You can use this to smudge your eye shadow and give it the smokey eye effect as well.

The Lip Brush. Most of us use lipsticks. We obviously see this brush being used so much in Make-Up Tutorials or by make up artists because they do not apply the lip color directly to many people. This actually is very helpful because you can evenly spread your lip color and even smooth it a bit.

This brush has two sides to it.
I never really knew why this brush was required but trust me, I wouldn’t be anywhere without it anymore: P
The flexible brush side is basically grooms your eyebrows and gives it a bushy effect. You can also use it to prep your brow color. Not really prep I mean you can blend it.

Who doesn’t get clumped up eye  lashes after applying mascara? I for one do get them. They are pretty annoying but don’t you worry lovely the other comb side to this brush is basically to remove the clumps of your eye lashes. You can even use it on your brows to give them a more polished look

Right now you are confused at this brush because it is the same as the brush number one. Do not be confused. There is a difference between the sponge applicator and the eye shadow brush. Technically the sponge applicator is applied on the outer side of your eye lids and is used for the more smudge look. This brush is used to apply on the inner part of your eye lids. ( I am pretty sure it is not called the inner part..I just can't recall what it is called..wait wait..it's called the eye lid fold. The outer side will be called the upper eye lid platform

*feels smart*

So the last brush doesn't really need an introduction or stuff. This is the brush every one is very familiar with. It's the powder brush you can apply the blushes and foundations with this. There are of course different sorts of powder brushes depending on how you want to highlight your face.

Hope you have a great day xx

OLA WEEKEND!

Waazaaaaa!

The weekend is finally here. I mean finally. So today we went on a picnic which was pretty great. Now I am not saying that the place they took us to was amazing and stuff, but we sure know how to have fun. Sadly our school doesn't permit cameras and I have no photos. Way to go school. Yaay.

We went to this wildlife center and there were so many kinds of animals and birds. Later we went to the park and had food. I mean come on what's a picnic without food? So there was so much food aswell.

So since in the weekend I am free and I don't have much work, I will be posting a couple of beauty posts. Today my hair was so good. Like I woke up feelin' like a celebrity..good hair days are awesome. I mean you get up and swish swish your hair looks like those Sunsilk advertisement and stuff. Whoop whoop!

So tomorrow I will be spending a massive time with my family. The birth of my baby brother has brought us pretty close now. Family time is yaay!

So many things planned for the weekend! What are your plans?

Under a pile of work--

I don't even think it is right for me to be blogging right now because there is like so much work, but instead of finishing it off  I updated my music list and now I am listening to A Great Big World and net surfing. A little motivation & love.

OLA AMIGOS! Recently, I have come across so many people on twitter and various networkin' websites who send death threats to people, telling them to kill themselves and it's very saddening. Most of us don't realise the power of words. Words have so much power. A single essay, letter or even a sentence can make someone's day or ruin someone. Let's take for instance girls. Every one tweets about how insecure girls are and what not? No one will probably try to figure out why girls decide to self harm or anything. It's because everywhere they are being called fat and ugly. You might want to kid around with your bestest friend but NEVER say things like these.Social media is for spreading love and not for you to judge people. We all are human beings we do not have any write to judge someone. Use your words to spread the love. Say good morning to strangers,be kind with your words.

In other news amigos waazaaaa?! It's Monday, second day of school and on Thursday we are going on a picnic to a desert park..(a DESSERT park would be nice don't you think? :P) So how is life going for you all. We all need some motivation and love everyday so grab your headphones and let's exchange some music! Let's browse through what I am listening to nowadays.
Snow in California-Ariana Grande

Let It Go-Demi Lovato

Monster-Eminem ft Rihanna

King and Lionheart- Of Monsters and Men

Little Me- Little Mix

Yes, I have a very mixed liking for music. Like I listen to nearly everything.
Hope you all have a great day!

The Frames Game

There are many people who aren't blessed with super vision. I am one of them. I believe that frames make you or break you depending what you choose. I for one has made the worst choices when it comes to frames. Today I will write about how to choose the perfect frame and win the frame game!

Step One: Identifying

The first thing you need to do is identify your face shape and here is how:
  • Stand in front of a mirror
  • Pull all your hair back
  • Take a lipstick or an eye liner and trace your face

Study your face and try to match them with the following shapes

Made this using paint. Haha miss them good ole days! x

Here is what to remember when considering your face shape:

If you fit in the Oval Category

Well then you probably have a forehead that is  wider than your chin Think of your face as an upside down egg. You are luck my dear because people who have an oval shaped face can work out any frames. You should avoid any frame larger than your features.

If you fit in the Square Category

If your face is square, your face sides will be straight and face will be as wide as it is long. You should opt for oval or round frames. Butterfly frames would be suitable aswell. Avoid geometric or squared shape frames

If you fit in the Round Category

Ola sister from another mister! You and I both have round shaped face *Internet Hi5*
Basically we have chubby cheeks and our cheek bones are the widest part of the face. If you have a round face you should opt for angular frames. Avoid shorter frames.

If you fit in the Triangle Category

You have a broader jaw and a small forehead. Try semi rimless frames. Try to avoid the low set temples one. Always ask the guy in the store to help you out.

If you fit in the Diamond Category

Your face structure is narrow at the eye line and the jaw line with a small forehead and chin. You should use upswept styles like the cat eye frame *meooow* which will emphasize on your cheeks. Avoid narrow frames.

If you fit in the Oblong category

Narrow shape that's longer that it is wide. You should try frames create a shorter frames. Try wide frames. Avoid small, out of proportion frames.

If you fit in the Heart Category

Lastly, if you fir in the heart category, you have broad features and wide cheek bones. Frames you should opt for are the low set temples one. Do not try heavy frames.

Hope this post will help you in zee future

A Golden Week!

OLA!

So I'm finally writing my proper proper blog post after ages! This week has been full of blessing and love. So this week is the golden week! Not only do we have a new member in the family, we have finally even gotten closer. I serious can not thank God enough for blessing us.

Always count your blessings. God has something great planned for everyone!

So today I am doing three blog posts, which I had planned to do earlier but with all the baby stuff those got delayed.

Today I finally got done with my old lip balm and started using a brand new one from Body Shop! No surprise there, I love the place and zee productions!

I am finally done with my English O'Level examination! I did my all I could and hopefully I will get a good grade *fingers crossed*

I am also done with all my homework and other assignments and now I can enjoy Saturday with the baby and family.

Family is so important to me. I live for family. I have two families. One is my family of Mom Dad and siblings and one of my best friends. I am nothing without them.

I am very protective about both of them, which is good to a certain extent. Today we finally had a home made meal. Don't get us wrong. With mum in the hospital, dad with her most of the time and us at school nobody could come and make us lunch. I can't even tell you how annoying it is to keep eating from outside. Like gaaaaaghhh.

I have a confession. I haven't been following my diet resolution. I feel terrible but with all this stress and studying I just couldn't make time, but I am NOT giving up this year. Now that my baby brother is born I would love to enjoy every moment with him and not fuss about my weight issues. So after I am done with all my postings and other updating I am going to work up a time table. I will divide my time between family, studying, getting fit and posting on the blog!

What do you think of the idea?

Identifying your skin type

OLA AMIGOS!

Whazzzzaaaaaa!!!

So it's a beautiful Saturday. The weather is lovely. I have just finished my preparations for the exam on Wednesday and I feel pumped after running. So glad I decided to change. Have a long way to go before the first month weigh in. That will be on the 12th of February.

So it's been a while since I have actually posted anything related to skin, so I decided to do some basics. Recently I needed to buy myself some products for facial care and I thought it would be lovely to help people out with their facial issues. First things first when buying   things for your face it is really important to determine what kind of skin you have.

Here are a few steps on how to identify your skin type.

1) Wash your face with your cleanser and pat dry. Always keep in mind that when ever you are drying your face pat dry. If you scrub your face with a towel you are just shifting the bacteria from one part of your face to another, which is a massive no no.

2) Leave your skin for one hour. Don't touch it or apply make up. One hour is enough to bring your skin to it's original condition

3) Take a tissue and dab it on your face. Try focusing near the T section of the face. Those of you who don't know the T section is it is the  area of your forehead nose and chin. It is much easier to identify what type of skin you have by looking at the T section

Now that you are done with the steps above, assess your skin.

There are 4 skin types.

Normal

If you have normal skin, congratulations your skin is neither flaky nor oily with huge pores.
You can use water based cleansers and moisturizers containing SPF 30

Dry

If your skin is flaky near the T section or you have small pores, you have dry skin. There is no need to panic. First thing is try using commercial soaps. Always refer to the Doctor available in the drug store you are purchasing your products from
I would also recommend that you apply honey on your face, massage gently and rinse it after 2-3 minutes. Honey will also help to remove excess dirt of your face.

Oily

If you have oily skin, there will be grease on your tissue and you will have huge pores. Try using oil free cleansers. Ice your face before going to bed. This will help to decrease the visibility of your pores.Try washing your face with warm water it helps decreasing the oil. Avoid things with added moisturizers.
You can also purchase clay masks and apply those.

Combination

This is the most common of the skin types. I have a combination skin. What I do is avoid anything that will add more oil on my face and even use honey every day. If you want you can try exfoliating. I use lemon and honey to exfoliate my skin every day.

Hope this blogpost helped you xx

Long Weekend Ahead!

Ola Amigos!

It's been a while since I last posted and while I lay in bed and stare at the ceiling I decided to just write a new post.

It's Thursday that means the weekend is here. This time we even have a holiday on Sunday!

So my first week of school after winter break went pretty well. Yesterday our first term results were given to our parents. My was pretty good except Maths.

I am totally rubbish at it. But my dad and mom know that so they try to help me.

On Wednesday I will be giving my English O'level paper. I am so scared but I am going to give it my best and get my A* (Insha'Allah)

So how is your week going?
Hope you all are doing great xx

To Ombre Or Not To Ombre That Is The Question!

OLA AMIGOS!

Sooooooooooooooooooooo. I just realized that in April I will have my farewell. Which has motivated me to stay more focused on my weight loss.

Every one prepares for their farewell before hand because doing it at the end is just a rush. I want to do something new with my hair which hasn't been cut since my 9th grade summer break. That is pretty terrifying. *freaks out* Mainly because I am Asian and when I was in 9th grade my hair was pretty short and that terrified my mum and now that it is longer my mum just doesn't want me to cut it #Asian-problems

Something that I really want to do is get an Ombre done.

Ombre is basically bleaching the tips of your hair to a brownish blonde color. Only your tips. There are some pros and cons to it..mostly cons because you are basically applying bleach which is so not good for your hair and I know if my hair which is pretty thick and I have minimal hair fall starts becoming bad then I will freak out. [I found some photos online to give a clearer picture]

On the other hand..if I get an Ombre done for the farewell, I will finally have done something different to my hair. ( I NEED A HAIRCUT!!!!!!!!!!) Not to mention I will of course use the products to maintain my hair because these products are always easily available)

I so need help with this..

Oh well school starts tomorrow so I should probably focus on that.

School,Anxiety and Get Fit Journey Update!

Ola Amigos!
It's Friday! That means day after tomorrow I have school :( which is pretty crap but one of my resolutions was to have a positive attitude towards everything so yaaaay? :P
Today has been pretty busy, for starters I was arranging all my homework and setting all that up. Gotta be prepared for Sunday.
In Dubai and the Middle East, we have our weekend on Friday,Saturday. So basically I have Sunday blues.
So school is coming and now I have to be prepared and take care of my skin more because when school is in session I am just burdened with school work and this year I am giving my IGCSE's which seriously is so scary. Eeeeek!
So I am going to have a timetable and I have even started a diary and a beauty journal so I can like get easy to do skin care tips and I will definitely leave a blog post for that tomorrow.
So today I had an anxiety attack which is pretty rubbish. Gaaah. Anxiety is just booo :(
Today I ate clean and drank plenty of water and avoided all the junk food I could. I am pretty proud of my self.
So hopefully starting tomorrow I will be able to eat clean, be active and get fit!
                  Wish me luck!

New Year,New Me,Get Fit Journey

OLA AMIGOS!

So 2014 has begun and to be honest I have a lot of things planned for this year. I want to achieve my dreams and grow more confident.

One of my ways of doing so is getting healthier. Being a 17 year old who is chubby doesn't make your life easier.

So hopefully this will work out and I will be more enthusiastic about things and get out of my anxiety thing.

Hope you all have a great day

First Blogpost of 2014 & L'Oréal Color Riche Lipstick Tender Rose 303

YAYAYAYA! 2014. This is the first blog post for the year. Today was pretty good. It was my dad's birthday so we went to China Times in DCC [Deira City Centre] and had a great lunch.

Before we had lunch we did a little shopping and shh don't tell this to anyone but I am secretly a bookworm. Soooo I got three books  from Borders which is this massive bookstore with all sorts of books.

So these are the three books I got. Can't wait to read them all. EEEK!

Here is some pictures of our lunch. I love Chinese food :3 And China Times is my favorite restaurant for Chinese food. I refuse to have it from any where else :3

Naah not really :P

YUM YUM YUM! :P

So in December I got this lipstick from my mum. I am absolutely rubbish at applying lipstick but I thought I would give it a go. So I used it a few times and I absolutely loved it.

The lip stick I am talking about is the L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick Tender Rose 303 . It was pretty long lasting and kept my lips moisturized so would definitely recommend  that if you are looking for a new lip color.

Hope all of you had a great first day of 2014.

Loads of love and sprinkles

xx
